Policies

• Instrument and bow trials are available on a case by case basis for customers interested in making a purchase. 
• Trial periods are for one week only, beginning from the date of receipt. A copy of a valid credit card and driver’s license are required with the completed trial form.
• Trial periods beyond 7 days are subject to a short term rental fee. This fee is non-refundable, but can be applied to the purchase cost of the instrument or bow. 
• For out of state trials, the customer is responsible for round-trip shipping costs if no purchase is made.

• TVS loaner bows are available for a $10 fee for use while the customer’s bow is being rehaired or repaired. Available for violin, viola, and cello. 
• Loaner bows must be returned when the customer bow is picked up.

• The Violin Shop will issue a refund on any purchase made within the last 7 days, and will issue an exchange within 30 days for items returned in sale condition. Damage or defect which is the fault of the buyer may negate return eligibility. 
• The customer is responsible for shipping back any returns, except in the case of defective product.
• Note: used strings are not eligible for return, except in the case of a defective product.

• Short-term rentals available for Student Instruments only. (These include but are not limited to the Music City Fiddle line, West Coast Strings line, and Jay Haide instruments.)
• Rental fee is 5% of the total sale per week. 3 weeks is collected up front as a deposit, and the difference is refunded (prorated in 1 week increments) when the instrument returned. 
• TVS provides shop “trial cases” for trials and short-term rentals. No retail cases are loaned out. 

• TVS Official Trade-In Policy: The Violin Shop will accept any full size instrument or bow over $400 (wooden or carbon fiber) in trade from the original purchaser for 100% of its original purchase price, minus a reconditioning fee where applicable. Trade-in credit cannot exceed 50% of the sale total. Trade credit cannot be combined with rental equity or additional discounts, and does not apply to consigned instruments. 
• TVS does not accept instrument cases in trade.
• No bows taken in trade under $400.
• TVS trade-in policy only applies to inventory sold by TVS, all other potential trade to be considered at the discretion of TVS and with wholesale value in mind.
• Student instrument trade-ins (Etude line) will be subject to 20% trade-in/reconditioning fee.

• The Violin Shop will cover any repair on a purchased instrument or bow in which the damage or defect was present at purchase.
• Damage and/or defect due to normal instrument use are not covered by TVS warranty and are subject to workshop fees and repair costs.
